Boundaries:
Lido Isle is bordered by Pacific Coast Hwy. and Newport Blvd.

History:
In 1906, the Pacific Electric Railway Co, completed the famous Red Line Car from Los Angeles to Balboa. Newport Bay became a popular vacation spot. In 1928, surplus right-of-way land, which is now Lido Isle, was sold to an investment group for development as a residential resort area. Planned by a European architect, the island was patterned after the fabulous Lido of Venice, Italy, one of Europe's most fashionable resorts at the time. After the war, Newport Beach became a popular boating and beach resort for the Los Angeles area, and many Hollywood celebrities built vacation homes on Lido Isle.

Established in 1928.

Homes:
This small island community now has 850 homes: 600 interior homes and 250 bay front homes. The two main streets circling the island are Via Lido Nord and Via Lido Soud. All interior streets are in alphabetical order. The Lido Isle Community Association maintains the clubhouse which offers residents a sandy beach, barbecues, and swim, float and guest docks.

Community Features:
Lido Isle features private parks, beaches, a club- house, tennis courts, and a security patrol. Within walking distance is Lido Village, with shops, restaurants, the Lido Theater and historical Cannery Village.

Schools:
Children attend Newport Elementary School, Ensign Junior High School and Newport Harbor High School.
